The most hated of months has run its nasty thirty one day course! Not that this year was even close to nasty. Yeah for global warming. Speaking of that, Liane and I watched "The Day After Tomorrow" for the I-don't-know-how-manyeth-time last night. Still a good movie.
The only downside to January being over is that spring fever starts to set in. And I am far from patient. And speaking of waiting a long time for things, Liane picked up an application for Canadian Citizenship yesterday. Apparently it can take up to a year for it to be processed/completed. Government.
So Thursday night is Youth Night. It was our turn to plan the games, Keith's turn for the Bible study. I think we've got some pretty good ones lined up..."Stealth", "KneeSlap Sparring", "Penny Soccer", and "TieDie Ball". They're all new to me, so we'll see how that goes.
Anywhoos, it's off to work I go. Gotta go wake Liane to say goodbye. She usually gets up with me, but the last few weeks she has been sleeping horribly...she goes to bed with a migraine and gets up with one in the morning. Makes me feel pretty bad 'cause my lights are out in less than 10 seconds, and it takes her all night to fall asleep.

Another weekend has come and gone
But it was one of those weekends you just feel good about. Much was accomplished, and we spent a lot of time with friends and family.
Saturday night we went to Heinrich & Irene's place. I hadn't played with Lego for quite some time, so that was great! It was fun to play with just Lea and Noah again...when they first came here there was no Kian, and no Marc, so I think they had my undivided attention. And of course it was good to visit with H & I as well.
Sunday had us at Mama & Papa N.'s place for lunch. This usually involved a lot of jumping on an old mattress with Luke, and playing countless rounds of ring-around-the-rosie with him and Kathleen. Good times indeed. I miss gym class. Amazing food, and always good times hanging out with the Nikels.
In the afternoon I played Photographer with Nat & Tim's band "Beacon of Hope". They're going to be doing some recording soon I understand, and they needed some band pictures for the CD booklet. Felt pretty unsure of myself, and didn't come up with anything terribly creative, but it was really good to spend some time with the Comtois boys again. I miss that for sure.
Well, after that I went to pick up my hot wife from Mom & Dad T.'s place and won an invitation for supper. We had some super good baked chicken breast and rice. I modified my chicken slightly before eating of course (I scraped off all the dressing stuff on it) but wouldn't you know it, I actually liked it!
In the evening we had a little "college & career that is no more" get together at our place. Bruce & Heath, Stacey, Audrey, and Irina showed up. Lots of fun, lots of laughs, and of course Liane made a dang good Wacky cake which we downed with ice cream. Sure miss having a college and career group. Not that it means we can't get together as friends, but with so many family and friends to get together with, it usually way too long in between visits.

No excuse...or apology for that matter :)
Well, after averaging nearly twenty posts a month, Jan has hit an all time low. And I have no idea why. Have our lives become so boring that we have nothing worth posting? I don't think so...life goes on as it always has. New job is still going well. This evening we went out for supper with the Something Digital crew. It was a great time, and excellent food too. We went to Mulligans (the Golf Course Restauraunt as I'm sure it's still called by most). Heather Day was our server, and she was really friendly.
Had the day off today. It's super duper having saturdays off. Spent most of the day cleaning up, but it was fun. Went with Dustin to Janzen Brothers Music Co. to order a new geetar for myself. It's an Alvarez MD70. Not that that means anything I'm sure, but they tell me it's a nice guitar. And it's on sale. I sold my old electric guitar and amp through them to pay for this one.
So Liane and I, along with Keith & Stacey, have been leading the youth group at church since September. It's a blast. It's a pretty small group, but they're all great kids. We've got a seperate youth blog but it's by invitation only so things stay all private-like (and we don't update it all that often anyway). But...a game we've played a couple of times now is just so much fun I thought we'd share a video with you. Friendly advice...
So I've only been at Something Digital for two weeks now, and I'm slowly starting to catch on, but here's one thing that has become blatantly obvious during those two weeks: computers die. New computers, old computers, makes no difference. I think hard drives have some kind of smart sensing capabilities that sense when you've got tons of important stuff stored on them and it's been a while since you last backed up, and then they crash. In two weeks I've seen at least a hard drive or two every day that was cooked. So you heard it here: back up your stuff! Regularly! Put it on whatever you can find...CDs, DVDs, a flash drive, hard drive, iPod, whatever.

It's high time, I know...
Been pretty lazy on the posting front as of late. I could blame it on starting a new job, but that would be a lie, 'cause I probably have more time now. Not that anything crazy exciting has happened that would be worthy of posting, but I probably should give an update on my new job situation.
And just how is my new job? Well, I'm not quite sure what to think myself. I think what it boils down to is this: I'm in way over my head. Feeling very inadequate. Maybe it's because I've been in computer sales for a mere 7 days now, where as I did sporting goods sales for nearly 7 years. So yeah, other than feeling like I really suck at it, I love my job! My employers are super people to work for, the hours are wonderful, I can run there in two minutes flat, the working conditions are great (seriously though, you wouldn't believe what a difference it can make to sit down for a few minutes every hour...at Time-Out I got to sit for half an hour at lunch, and by the end of the day I felt like I was 60 years old), and it's a really interesting place to work. We get to help people. And that's fun. If only I could help them...
On another note, Liane gave me a wonderful gift today...a Lifetime WarrenT Guarantee...I'm shatter resistant to -18C! I also had some cosmetic surgery, and as you can see, it turned out quite well! I was tired of such a feminine looking jaw, so this was a little post-christmas gift to myself. I've always wanted to look like an NFL linebacker! Now, what to do about these arms of mine...

OH YEAH!!!
Sweet! Does it get any better than a foot of fresh powder?! Especially waking up to it. Oooh, I'm tingling. What a difference a foot of snow makes...two days ago everything was kinda brown and dirty looking...now we've got a serious winter wonderland!
Apparently it's too much snow to do a whole lot of driving out there, so they've cancelled church for this morning. I must admit I'm a little disappointed, but hey, safety first, right? Was really looking forward to doing a new song with the worship team this morning...Third Day's "Show me your glory". Guess it'll have to wait.
So part of me wants to jump in the car and snag some pictures, the other half of me, perhaps the more realistic side, knows I'll get stuck somewhere for sure. Maybe I'll have to go on foot.
So it's the last day of 2006! I guess some kind or retrospective post would be in order. Frankly I'm just too excited about the snow right now to worry about that though.
Hey, yesterday was my last day as an employee at Time-Out Sports Excellence! I was intending on making a separate post entitled "an ode to Time-Out", but maybe I won't. I started working there in March of 2000. I guess this spring would have been seven years, although I had a little 6 month hiatus at Triple E. Time-Out was a super place to work. I'm gonna miss it for sure. Especially the bike stuff.
Anywhoos, gotta run...much to do! Hey, unless I post again before next year, have a HAPPY NEW YEAR! May you grow ever nearer to God, and may he bless you richly in this coming year.

Something new
Well, today I "started" my new job at Something Digital. I don't start full time until the new year, but I'm working a few casual hours between now and then, when I can. First impressions? Well, it was only a two hour shift, but I think it's going to be great! My head hurts from all of the new information, but I'm really excited to be learning something new again. The place is great...it's small, but it's got a sweet view (ok, so it looks out onto the highway, but the entire storefront is windows, and when you're used to working in the mall, it's pretty nice to have real light). The owners/staff are all super friendly and made me feel welcome. I think it'll be a great combination...I love working retail because I enjoy working with people, and a big part of the job will be trouble shooting/problem solving...customer says "I want to be able to do this...what do I need?", and we get to figure it out. And the best part of all (which previously I thought to be impossible in retail) is the hours...no evenings! Yeehaw!
I'm still pretty nervous about the whole thing...so much to learn. Back in my highschool days (like seven years ago) I was really into computers...took a few courses for geeks and did really well, but that was a long time ago. And at the rate these crazy things change, it'll be a real challenge to keep on top of things. But, life would be boring without a challenge, right?
