So what's new? Hmm...we got our new piano on tuesday! Yippeee! I think Liane has played it more than I have though...I've been busy with other things. It's really a nice piano though. To those of you who gave us money for our wedding, thank you! We also ordered a table and chairs from Ikea. For some reason Liane isn't very fond of the 20 year old set my parents gave me when I moved out ;) "C'mon, it's character!" But the table and chairs from Ikea are pretty cool...It was my idea to order a black set...think it'll go nicely with the livingroom furniture.
Speaking of wedding gifts, I'll have to post a picture of the quilt that Heather and Bruce gave us. It is the suhweeetest quilt ever. We also got a picnic blanket made of jeans from my Auntie Anna and Uncle Glen that is really cool...we must have used it a dozen times already.
So here's an open invitation to all of you (who know us) to drop by for some ice cream or something sometime. There are so many of you we'd like to have over to say "thanks for helping us with our wedding", or just to spend time with you. And if you don't show up here, we might just invite ourselves over to your place!
On another note, yesterday we were driving somewhere in the car, and Liane had a Casting Crowns CD playing. Since Daniel and Anna and their family left, she's been playing all the music that reminds her of them, and I guess this one does it for her. I'm really starting to like the CD...the music is great, but the words and their song ideas are really cool. We've been working on the house a lot lately, and I guess this song has been on my mind. Here are the lyrics, and a couple of verses related to it:
Casting Crowns
- American Dream -
All work no play may have made Jack a dull boy
But all work no God has left Jack with a lost soul
But he's moving on full steam
He's chasing the American dream
And he's gonna give his family the finer things
Not this time son I've no time to waste
Maybe tomorrow we'll have time to play
And then he slips into his new BMW
And drives farther and farther and farther away
So he works all day and tries to sleep at night
He says things will get better,
Better in time
'Cause he works and he builds with his own two hands
And he pours all he has in a castle made with sand
But the wind and the rain are comin' crashin in
Time will tell just how long his kingdom stands
His kingdom stands
His American Dream is beginning to seem
More and more like a nightmare
WIth every passing day
"Daddy, can you come to my game?"
"Oh Baby, please don't work late."
Another wasted weekend
And they are slipping away
'Cause he works all day and lies awake at night
He tells them things will get better
It'll just take a little more time
He used to say, "Who ever dies with the most toys wins"
But if he loses his soul, what has he gained in the end
I'll take a shack on a rock
Over a castle in the sand
'Cuase he worked and he built with his own two hands
And he poured all he had in a castle made with sand
But the wind and the rain are coming crashing in
Time will tell just how long his kingdom stands
His kingdom stands
All they really wanted was you
All they really wanted was you
All they really wanted was you
Mark 8:34-37 "Then he called the crowd to him along with this disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lost it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?"

So there's something to think about today.
I had a great time at bible study last night. Mike had a thought-provoking devotional about what really matters, and what we hold as most important to us. We went around the room and each shared what came to mind as the things we hold most important to us...most of the people said it was their family, or their relationship with God. My family means so much to me, but I know if I were to lose them all like Job did, only my relationship with God would get me though. But if I didn't have a relationship with God like I do, family wouldn't seem nearly as important (because I see them as a gift from God), and I know just family isn't enough to get you through the hard times...we need someone bigger. Mike also asked each of us what one thing we would like to learn. My first thought was "I want to learn how to fly (without an airplane :) , but I heard a lot of great answers that I would have to agree with. I would like to be content in every situation, I would like to learn another language (workin' on that one), and I would like to how to be more Christ-like in everything I do. A few guys said they would like to know exactly what it is that God wants from them...why they are here, and what he wants them to do. Mike gave them this verse to check out:

Micah 6:8
"He has showed you, O man, that is good.
ANd what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to lover mercy and to walk humbly with your God"
"He has showed you, O man, that is good.
ANd what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to lover mercy and to walk humbly with your God"
Reminds me of another verse: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and love your neighbor as your self." I know that's not exactly word-for-word, but I can't find the verse in my bible right now.
Anywhoos, gotta run...time for lunch and then I've got to go to work. Liane and I are both working 'til 9 p.m. today. Talk to you all later,
