Hey Folks! Long time no chit chat (with some of you anyways, for others maybe it hasn't been long enough ;). Not that there have been a shortage of things to post about...not a day goes by that I don't think "hmm, I should post a few thoughts on that...", but the truth is, life is busy, and blog updates aren't on the top of the list anymore.

So we've got a federal election coming up in a couple of weeks. To be honest, I don't follow politics a whole lot, definitely not as much as I should. I'll use not owning a television, and being a newlywed as an excuse for that. But I have seen a little bit of the news coverage from time to time, so I have formed (albeit not an entirely informed) opinion. The Liberals have been in power for a good part of my life. The earliest memory of politics I have is being in grade five or six and making up bad rhymes and songs about the Conservatives and Brian Mulroney when he nailed us with the GST. Hey, you wouldn't believe how it affected us kids too! Money spent on candy and toys didn't go nearly as far, and you had to make some pretty complicated calculations( for a 10 year old) to figure out how many Jaw Breakers and Tear Jerkers you could afford! Anywhoos, the Liberals haven't done a whole lot better in my opinion. They may have paid off a lot of national debt, but really, let's remember who actually paid off the debt...taxpayers. And the knowledge of millions of taxpayers dollars being spent scandalously drives me nuts. I have no problem paying taxes if I know that they're being put to good use.

I think our country has also been thrown into a moral freefall. The government has tried to brainwash people into thinking that we have to support and condone homosexual marriage. The reality is, we are now one of the few countries in the world that allow it. And maybe that's just the way it goes. Maybe I'm foolish and naive to think that the government should hold to the same moral values as the majority of the people it represents. And let's not forget that in nearly every poll that was done, those in favor of keeping the traditional definition of marriage(as one between one man and one woman) outnumbered those against by two or three to one! How they disregarded the views of the majority in favor for the twisted views of the visible minorities and rammed this stuff through the legislature, etc in record time is what irks me the most.

I guess the good news is that, for the present time at least, there is party who claims (I know, they're still only claims) to hold to some form of moral judgment, and ethical practices, and right now, that party even has a small lead over the Liberals. The way I see it, even if you don't like the Conservatives, or share the same views as them, you owe them a chance, 'cause they really can't do any worse than the Liberals have.

Anywhoos, enough about politics...I prefer to have my head in the sand. If I think about for any length of time I get depressed, so we'll leave it alone for now. Last night Heath, Bruce, Stace, and Dusty came over. Bruce and I went to Plum Coulee to pick a stove for him and Heath. We played a nasty game of Phase 10...Bruce was particularly ruthless ;)

So Liane and I have got a couple of road trips "planned" (and I say "planned, 'cause they're not really planned at all) for the summer. Josh and Jenna have asked me to photograph their wedding (despite my efforts to convince them otherwise) so we'll make a "quick";) trip to Ontario in the beginning of May, and then we're hoping to head west with Keith and Stacey and Rowan, and maybe even Bruce and Heath. I haven't been to B.C. for probably 12 years, and Liane has never been there, so it'll be a great opportunity to check out some of God's wonderful creation in this beautiful country of ours. Speaking of beautiful, how about this crazy weather, eh?! If this is global warming...bring it on baby! Seriously though, what a sweet December and January. I mean the coldest month of the year is almost half over, and it hasn't been colder than -5C during the day! Right now the sun is shining, the sky is the most beautiful blue, with wispy white clouds floating by, and it's 1.6deg C!I should be outside building snowmen!

Anywhoos, it's time for lunch, so I've gotta go. But we'll chat again!
Ta ta for now,

Warren
