Down for the Count

There are not a lot of things in life that slow me down, but this morning, I woke up with one of them. No, I'm not talking about Liane ;) All night long I kept thinking Liane was hogging the blanket, 'cause I was cold all over, but everytime I reached out to grab it, I realized it was still covering me. I haven't had a fever for at least 5 years, so I had kinda forgotten what it's all about. I tried to get up @ 7:30 to get some work done on Ellie & Willie's wedding pics, but I just couldn't. Ended up getting out of bed around 9. Tried to "shake it off", but it was no use. Took my temperature and found out I had a fever. Yippie! So here I lie on the couch while Liane does the grocery shopping for the week. I've got the Apple remote, the stereo remote, the phone, a box of Kleenex, a Sig full of water, and some hot Neo Citron beside me. I only have to work @ 12:30 today, so hopefully a little rest will shake it. I'm going crazy inside though...I can see the thermometer from where I lie, and it's showing over 10 deg. C! Opened the window a touch for some fresh air and, oh boy, it smells like spring! I can even hear the birds singing again! Liane and I finished reading the fifth book in the Chronicles of Narnia, "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" this morning, and what a great book it was. Such beautiful imagery. And a perfect morning to finish it on.

So it's been so long again since I last posted. One of the craziest weekeds of my life has come and gone. Not that it was crazy in a bad way, it was awesome in fact, but I had been getting stressed out about it for several weeks before. On saturday I photographed a wedding for the first time. It was such a great day. We started with studio pictures @ Heinrich & Irene's place at 8:30, and the day just flew by from there. The wedding, in typical German fashion (so I've heard) was an all day affair, but we had to take off to Gimli at 6 p.m. Our worship team was playing for a youth retreat. It went really well. And to make things more exciting, God sent us a beautiful snowfall sunday morning. Made for a pretty white-knuckled drive home in Mom & Dad's van which, loaded with all of the sound equipment and luggage, was riding only a few inches off the road.

Last night Heinrich, Irene & the kids came over for pizza. We had a great evening together. It must take a lot out of a person to be a parent...even though the kids were really well behaved, it seemed like a ton of work just to take the family out for an evening. Speaking of parents, I almost posted on here the other day, with a huge headline that read "WE'RE EXPECTING" , and then I was going to go on to say in much smaller print that we're expecting some nice weather this week. Not that I wanted to be mean, but we're noticing a lot of people asking us when we're going to have a baby. One such person had thought that we had been married for over a year already, so they understood a bit when we told them it's really only been 7 months. Which, I guess, is technically long enough, but it's probably not quite that simple. With Liane's diabetes, certain things have to be really stable before we can think about that. And on top of all that, we're finding it's really great to be "childless" at the moment too. Being an uncle and an aunt to so many cute little nieces and nephews is undoubtedly much easier than having one of own. So for the record, no, Liane's not pregnant. But stay tuned, I'm sure you'll hear it hear first!

Anywhoos, gonna take a little nap, so we'll lalk later. But for pete's sake, GO OUTSIDE!
