Super duper Sunday!

You would think it would get old, like talking about gas prices, but I just can't get over this awesome weather! We had a beautiful spring. We had an amazing summer. Now it's getting into fall, and it's just too sweet! We went hiking with the college & career group on Sunday, and it was soo nice...no mosquitoes, a nice breeze, blue skies, puffy clouds, warm weather, and great friends. We even took Tiger along (my nickname for Rowan) in his Chariot (which rocks...that thing rolls over anything...definitely gonna have to get one of those for baby T.). We went to David Lumgairs place by Thornhill...he had just groomed the trails...he's going to have some pretty sweet cross country skiing trails this year if we have a decent amount of snow. After we were all bushed from the hike (he he, pun intended :) we came back to our place and ordered pizza. Later on we played a game of Phase 10. We all cracked up pretty good when Audrey suddenly yelled "OH, I HAVE THE RUNS!" I think what she meant is that she was dealt a really good hand, and had all the cards she needed for a run of 9 :)

In the morning Mike preached a really great sermon. He was speaking on Galatians 5:7-15. He talked about the need to stay focused on what matters...loving God and loving people...and to not get persuaded by false teaching, etc. He reminded us that it's not our place to judge other's hearts and motives based on what we see "on the outside". In the scripture passage, Paul was teaching the Gentile believers that they we called to be free...that what Christ accomplished on the cross was enough, and that they didn't have to become circumcised like the Judaisers were trying to convince them. Mike applied this to some of the traditions that we as churches have kept over the years, even though they may not be Biblically based.
